12.6.05 The Blue Bloods are one of the bands on the new compilation CD Banded Together to Fight Hard Times. This benefit CD is filled with tracks by some of the biggest and best Boston area and national bands. It was produced to raise money for our pals, Far From Finished, that suffered a terrible crash while on tour - losing their vehicle and all their gear. Our song "Standing At the Edge" is featured. Head over to interpunk.com to grab yourself a copy. |
10.25.05 Anyone who has XM Satellite radio should tune into Rancid Radio (XM Satellite station #53 - FUNGUS). They have been playing some Blue Bloods songs lately, and always feature the best up and coming punk and hardcore music. Another big thanks to Tim and Lars! |
9.8.05 Check out this month's issue of Guitar World Magazine (the one with Keith Richards on the cover). In it is a segment featuring Rancid's Tim Armstrong, and he mentions The Blue Bloods. Thanks Tim! |
9.6.05 A huge thanks to all the people that came out to last Saturday night's gig at the Abbey. For those of you who came, you witnessed the last Blue Bloods show for a while. As it turns out, we will not be playing the 10/1 NEMO showcase. Again, we are all very thankful for everything that has happened to our little band. Without the support of the industry, the Boston punk/hardcore scene, all the incredible bands, the amazing and true fans, and of course our friends and families - this all would not have been possible. We will see you all again soon. |
8.30.05 Well folks - all good things must come to an end (or at least to a grinding halt...) The next couple shows will be the last for the Blue Bloods. After our gigs on 9/3 and 10/1, the band will go on hiatus for an undetermined length of time. A gigantic thanks to all the people that have helped us through six years, hundreds of gigs, and more blood, sweat and tears than you can ever dream of. |
8.25.05 The band has been added to this year's NEMO Showcase. There will be more details to follow, but for now our spot is on Saturday, Oct 1st at the ICC in Allston. We play early, so check the gigs page for details. |
8.22.05 For all of you who have the latest Dropkick Murphys CD The Warrior's Code, you are familiar with the song "Last Letter Home," which includes lines from letters sent from soldiers overseas to their loved ones back home. One of the most heartfelt lines is from a letter by Sgt. Andrew Farrar, who was a huge fan of the band. To honor Sgt. Farrar's passing, the Dropkicks have decided to release their acoustic version of "Fields of Athenry," with all proceeds going to the memorial fund Andrew's family set up to benefit his two sons Liam & Tyler. The CD is now available for pre-order. Get off your ass and do something good. |
07.22.05 Unfortunately the band will not be playing with our pals Darkbuster in Rochester next Friday. Due to circumstances beyond our control, it just isn't going to happen. We apologize to our NY fans, and we promise to make it out there soon. |
07.20.05 Check out our photos page for some shots of our set at this year's In-Fest and our April gig in Portland, ME. |
07.05.05 Head over to mb-imaging.net for pictures from the Lenny Lashley benefit. And be sure to check out the gigs page for upcoming BB shows. |
06.16.05 Our own Tim Baxter will be partaking in the Benefit for Lenny of Darkbuster, taking place Sunday, June 26th at the Middle East Downstairs. Friends of Ca-Ca will feature The Dogmatics, The Raging Teens, The Dents, Drago, The McGunks, Three Sheets, The Piss Poor Boys (with special guest singers) and of course Darkbuster - with special guest singers Stephanie Doherty (Dropkick Murphys), Torr (Kings of Nuthin), Mark Lind (Ducky Boys), Mark Doherty (Nowhere USA) and many many more. Check out Darkbuster.net for benefit details. |
06.07.05 For those of you who do not know, our friend Lenny from Darkbuster recently suffered a serious injury at work. Like most musicians he does not have health insurance. The bills and continued treatment are costing him a bundle. To help ol' Lenny out, Betty from the Gobshites was kind enough to set up a Paypal account for people to donate. Any ammount big or small will help. As friends of Lenny we know he would not want us to make a fuss about it but we want to help out and we thought this was the best way to do so. We suggest Paypal account holders send $$ from their bank account, because using a credit card (which non-Paypal users will have to do anyway) causes Paypal to take a service fee off of the amount. Please head over to Darkbuster.net for the payment details. Give till it hurts. |
06.06.05 It is finally here - the second annual Boston In-Fest. The Blue Bloods were fortunate enough to be part of this last year, and Pat from FNS Boston was kind enough to have us back again this year. It takes place this weekend at the Mt. Auburn VFW Hall in Cambridge on both Saturday 6/11 and Sunday 6/12. There are a ton of great bands on both days, so be sure to get there early - this is one of the biggest shows this summer and it will sell out! All proceeds for this festival go to benefit the New Boston Skate Park, so come on by and get your freak on for a good cause. We play Saturday night, so head to FNS Boston for details. |
05.22.05 Here are a couple things from the Blue Bloods "ooops" department: 1) sorry to all our fans who came to last night's Seekonk gig. Unbeknown to us, the show ended up getting cancelled at the last minute. For the southern MA and RI area folks who missed us, we will be playing this Thursday, May 26th at the Living Room with the almighty Bane. You can check out our gigs page for details and ticketmaster to purchase tickets. 2) We would like to thank May's issue of The Noise for joining the long list of publications than cannot seem to get our name right. This month our album Death of a Salesman was ranked #9 on The Noise Top 30 Radio Chart, but we are listed as The Blue Bloodhounds. Now that is a new one... |
05.16.05 The band would like to thank all the folks who came out last night for the Doherty benefit. And a special thanks to all the bands who played with us - Destined 2 Fight, The Pug Uglies, Drago, Wednesday Night Heroes - without them the night would have not been such a success. |
05.05.05 The Blue Bloods store has some new items. Ladies, grab yourself a spaghetti strap tee (just in time for the warm weather). And we also have the tattoo logo tee available now in maroon. We'll have these for sale at shows, but these items tend to sell out fast, so be sure to get yours before they're all gone. On a more serious note, our dear friend Dangerous Mark Doherty's brother was recently wounded on his tour of duty in Iraq. He is alright, but is going to be out of rotation for a while. As a show of his patriotism, he has chosen to stay overseas with his troops. There will be a benefit for him on Sunday, May 15th at Dee Dee's in Quincy. All proceeds from the night will go to taking care of his needs and wants while he recovers. See the gigs page for details. |
04.29.05 Head over to the photos page and check out some shots from our 3/18 Avalon gig with the Dropkick Murphys, courtesy of photog supremo Eric Sherman. |
04.26.05 We have some exciting news about the US release of Death of a Salesman, but we cannot divulge the info quite yet. Once the details have been finalized, we will let you know. But we promise it is a big one. On the tour front, things are shaping up for a small US tour in late August with our friends Tommy and the Terrors. As it stands now, we plan to hit Buffalo, Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburg, Philadelphia and NY/NJ. If you can help with any of those cities (or ones nearby that will have us!) please get in touch with either booking@thebluebloods.net or bostonmassholes@yahoo.com. |
04.25.05 As many of you already know, this past Saturday night's gig at Dee Dee's was the last for our bass player Greg "Goose" Genovese. Greg was a founding member of the Blue Bloods and will be surely missed. We all want to wish him luck with his future plans. That being said, our new bass player will make his debut at our New Direction gig on May 6th. The band would like to welcome Mike Delosh to the group. Mike D is a renaissance man of sorts, as he plays with seemingly every band in Boston (Red Eye Drive, Dying Contest, Boozefighter). He is a great bass player, and we are psyched to have him. |
04.18.05 This past weekend started out bad with the cancellation of our Friday night gig in Albany, but ended great with our Saturday night assault on Portland, ME with our friends Darkbuster and a slew of other cool bands. A big thanks to those guys, the Station and all the fans up north who made the night incredible. We hope to come back there soon. Photog supremo Mike Byrne was there to capture all the shenanigans. Check out his pics at mb-imaging.net. |
04.15.05 We've got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that our 5/7 gig in NYC had to be cancelled due to overbooking at the club. We're very sorry to our New York fans, but we are working on getting back there as soon as we can. The good news is that we have just been added to the first night of the 2nd Annual Boston In-Fest. Brought to you by FNS Publishing, Rodent Popsicle Records and Welfare Records. More and more bands are being confirmed each day, but by the looks of it this year is shaping up to be one hell of a festival. Check the FNS Board for updates. |
04.13.05 Unfortunately our friends the Bloodshot Hooligans could not make the 4/15 Albany gig. But our pals The Pug Uglies are filling in on short notice. Also, the Blue Bloods have been asked to join local heroes Bane at their May 26th Providence record release party. Tickets for this show go on sale through Ticketmaster and Lupo's box office this Saturday, April 16th. Check out the gigs section for show details. |
04.07.05 We have just been added to the Friday, April 15th gig at Valentine's in Albany with our friends Bloodshot Hooligans. With our Portland gig the next night, it is shaping up to be a weekend of punk rock and pit stops. Check out the gigs section for the details. |
04.01.05 Check out the store section for new t-shirt and zippered hoodie designs. These babies are selling out fast at shows, so be sure to get your hands on them now. And anyone in NH this weekend can catch us with our friends Dementia 13 and others at The Bombshelter in Manchester. See the gigs section for details. |
03.19.05 The band would like to thank everyone that came out to support our opening slot for the almighty Dropkick Murphys this past Friday night. We all had an incredible time, and we are forever in debt to our friends the Dropkicks for having us be part of this annual Boston tradition. Pictures from the gig should be up in a few weeks, so please keep checking back. |
03.09.05 The Blue Bloods are hitting the airwaves over the next few weeks in support of the new album. The band will be on a couple radio stations in the Boston and New Hampshire area, so check the gigs section for dates and station info. And don't forget - the band is opening up for the Dropkick Murphys on Fri 3/18 as part of their annual St. Patricks Day celebrations. Tickets for our night sold out in mere hours, but there are some tickets floating around on eBay (if you got the cash). |
02.07.05 You can now purchase the new Blue Bloods album Death of a Salesman at Newbury Comics. They have a ton of locations in the Boston area, and you can always head to their website. If you don't see it in the stores, please request it! On the gig front, we have an all-ages matinee scheduled for May 7th in NYC! Check the gigs section for details... |
01.27.05 Looks like our friends Dementia 13 will be joining us for the Death of a Salesman CD release party at the Abbey Lounge on 2/18. With The Pug Uglies and Drago in the mix - it is shaping up to be one hell of a show. And make sure to keep your ears tuned to WFNX 101.7FM on April 10th. The band will be appearing live on New England Product with host Chris Rucker. |
01.26.05 If you were not at the Street Dogs CD release party last night - you sincerely missed out on a once in a lifetime event. Not only was the band in tip top shape (complimented by incredible acoustic performances by The Ducky Boys' Mark Lind and The Pug Uglies' Tom O'Connell and Jimmy Burke) but the crowd was packed with a slew of hometown heroes and true blue fans of the Boston music scene. Go out right now and buy their new album "Back To The World" or Colin the scully cap badboy will kick your ass... |
01.03 .05 The CD release party for the new album Death of a Salesman will be Friday, February 18th at the Abbey Lounge in Sommerville MA. Our friends The Pug Uglies and Drago will be joining us for an incredible night of punk and hardcore sweetness. Come on down and grab a copy of the new CD - they are selling out fast! You can still purchase them online, along with tons of other merchandise, from the store section of the website. |
01.01.05 Happy new year! As you can see the website has undergone a slight redesign. Take a look around at all the goodies... |
12.2.04 The band is happy to announce it will be playing with the almighty Dropkick Murphys for one of their St. Patrick's Day gigs on Friday, March 18th. These all-ages shows have become an annual tradition here in Boston, and the band is grateful to be part of it this year. The tickets for this show go on sale next Tuesday, December 7th at 10.00 AM. Tickets can be bought on-line via Nextticketing.com or in person at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. You can also order them by phone -- for US credit card holders call 617.423.6398 and for overseas credit card holders and customer service call 617.423.6000. See you there! |
12.1.04 The Blue Bloods want to send out an apology to all the fans that came out to the Blitz show last night. Due to a scheduling mix-up, venue change, etc. the band did not get to perform. The band sincerely regrets having to nix the gig, but look forward to making it up for the true fans at another show soon. Thanks for the understanding! |
11.25.04 The 11/29 gig with Blitz has been rescheduled to Tuesday 11/30 and is now at the Cambridge Elks Lodge in Central Square. Come out for a great night of hardcore and punk - if only to work off all that turkey in the pit... |
10.27.04 The new Blue Bloods album, titled Death of a Salesman is scheduled for European release on November 14th. This is the band's second release with I Scream Records, and are pleased to continue to be part of the I Scream family. As for a stateside release date, those details are still being worked out. But it looks like the record will hit the US streets sometime in January 2005 on GMM Records. Keep checking back for details on our record release party. |
10.5.04 After weeks of speculation, it has finally been confirmed - we are happy to announce we are playing the benefit for Springa of SSD! We are scheduled for the first of two shows on Wed Oct 13th at the Paradise main room, along with Boston legends Gang Green, Jerry's Kids and more. Doors for the early show open at 6:00 pm. You can get your tickets for this benefit through Next Ticketing. Please come out and show your support for the almighty Springa. Check out our own Tim Baxter with the man himself. |
8.11.04 The new CD has just been mastered, and it looks to be better than the last record. If you've been to any recent Blue Bloods shows, you have heard some of the new material in its live setting. The studio material is just as blistering. Some song titles inlcude Dying Day, Losing Streak, 4:00 AM, Written Off, Testimony, Drink Too Much and many more. You will be able to hear some of the newer stuff at next week's Darkbuster gig at the Middle East Downstairs. The show looks like it is going to sell out, so come by early and get your hands on the new t-shirts and sweatshirt hoodies. In the meantime, check out the misc photos section for a pic of Gus Genovese, punk rock's newest fan and son of our very own Goose, bass player supreme. You gotta love the Slapshot shirt... |
7.19.04 Quick Update: The Darkbuster show has been bumped up a day. It is now on Wednesday, August 18th. Check out the gigs section for details. |
7.15.04 This weekend brings the Blue Bloods back to The Outpost Studio to record the new record. The band is excited to be working with Jim Siegel again, and this album is going to be chock full o' punk goodness. The record will have 18 songs (with a few surprises...) and will melt your speakers. On another kick-ass note, the band has been invited to play an incredible show this summer with our friends Darkbuster. The show is 8/19 at the Middle East Downstairs, so cancel your plans now because this show is gonna rock. |
6.28.04 All of us in the Blue Bloods would like to congratulate our bassist Greg on the birth of his first child. Gus will be a month old this week, and we want to wish the very best to Greg and Kris on their addition to their family. Thanks for our newest and youngest fan! |
6.24.04 The search is over...filling the shoes of departing TJ is none other than guitar genius Bobby Bones (Ponyboy Curtis/Dying Contest). If you have caught any of the recent Blue Bloods gigs, you know that Bobby has mastered all our songs in record time and plays the hell out of his guitar. The band is very happy to welcome him to the group. Humourous anecdotes and embarrasing photos to follow. |
6.3.04 The Blue Bloods would like to thank Pat from FNS Boston for including us in the 2004 Boston In-Fest. We all had a great time, and hopefully this will be annual event for many years to come. Check out some of the photos from our set on opening night of the festival, once again taken by photo supremo Chris Nickerson. On a separate note, we have studio time booked in July to head back to the Outpost and again work with Jim Siegal (Dropkick Murphys, Blood For Blood, Slapshot). We are shooting for an October 2004 release. We'll keep you posted... |
5.23.04 After five incredible years with the the Blue Bloods, TJ Welch has decided to leave the band. One of the founding members of the group, TJ has been with the band through all the ups and downs. You can check out his reasons behind the tough decision here. All of the band members wish him the best. TJ will play his farewell gig with the band at the first night of the Boston In-Fest this Saturday 5/29. It will be tough to fill his shoes, but the newest Blue Blood guitarist will be announced shortly. |
4.23.04 The new stickers and pins have been added to the merchandise page. You can also stop by the misc photos section for some new band shots by photographer superhero Chris Nickerson. |
4.8.04 Unfortunately the 4/18 NYC show has been cancelled. The band is working on putting together some great local shows, so keep checking back for updates. |
3.30.04 It looks like things might be shaping up for a summer tour of the US. Dates and cities are still in the beginning stages of planning, but keep checking back for updates. On a special side note, "Twice As Strong" is featured on I Scream Records' most wanted publishing list (note the super-sweet category of melodic hardcore). |
3.27.04 The band would like to thank all who came out for our gig last night at Dee Dee's. We had a great time as always, and a special thanks to the almighty Springa from SSD who joined us on stage for our cover of "Glue." Also, keep checking back for some new band photos. Our ugly mugs will grace these pages soon. |
2.8.04 The Blue Bloods are currently scheduled to head back to the studio in early May to record their next album. The band is looking forward to hitting The Outpost Studio and again working with Jim Siegal (Dropkick Murphys, Blood For Blood, Slapshot). Any of you who have been to recent BB shows have been able to hear some of the new material. Speaking of shows, there are a couple of doosies lined up for April. The band is fortunate enough to be able to join New Jersey heroes Hudson Falcons for their Boston CD release party at Axis on the 16th. And our friends in Far From Finsihed have hooked us up with the chance to play with them and to reunite with our European tourmates Blood For Blood at CBGB's in NYC on the 18th. Check out the gigs section for details. |
1.14.04 For those of you in the Boston area, come warm away the cold this weekend with not one but two Blue Bloods shows. Both happen this Saturday, Jan 17th. The first is a stripped-down gig featuring Tim and TJ playing the Paradise Lounge for the latest episode of Chords + Discourse. The featured artist is Motorhead, and storytellers include Keith Bennett, Duncan Wilder Johnson, Drew (LCA) and more. Tim and TJ hit the stage at 9:30pm. After that, head over to DeeDee's in Quincy to catch the whole band playing the benefit for Kevin Adams of State Control. The Blue Bloods are headlining this show, so expect their set to start at 11:30-ish. On a separate note, check out the European tour pics page for some new shots of the Bochum, Germany gig. |
1.10.04 Check out the live photos page for pics from the recent In the Van... Zine release party. |
1.4.04 The Blue Bloods would like to thank Pat Clement and FNS for letting us be a part of the In The Van... zine and its release party. We had a great time and it was good to see that all-ages DIY shows are still going strong in Boston. On a side note, the NYC show for next weekend has been cancelled. But not to fear - there is plenty of stuff around the corner. The Blue Bloods are proud to be playing the 1/17 benefit for Kevin Adams from the band Control State. His medical bills are astronomical so please check our gigs section and do your part to help out a member of the Boston music scene. And do not forget to listen to 88.9 WERS on 1/31 at 11:00 pm to check out the interview and live performance. |
12.15.03 For the first gig of the new year, The Blue Bloods are honored to be playing the first night of the "In The Van..." Zine Release Party. Hosted by FNS Boston and Mad Cat Productions, "In The Van..." is a special edition release by FNS featuring tour diaries from Mad Cat bands Suspect Device, the Blue Bloods, and Satan's Teardrops, as well as A Global Threat, the Virus, the Profits, Blind Society, S.W.A.T., the Escaped, Kermit's Finger and many more. Friday, January 2nd is the first of two all-ages shows that celebrate the DIY effort, and the Blue Bloods will share the stage with the Epidemic, the Struggle and Down To Kill. |
11.21.03 Photos from the "Back On The Map" European Tour with Slapshot and Blood For Blood are now posted. Check out the Live Photos page for all the goodies. And be sure to stop by the Flyers section for some of the promotional and miscellaneous items from the tour. |
11.11.03 Well, we survived our 2003 European tour intact (sort of). All of the Blue Bloods would like to send out a huge thanks to everyone who made the "Back on the Map" Tour possible: Onno Cromag + Laurens from I Scream Records, Erol + M.A.D. Tourbooking, and big Mike + Trash Mark. And a very special thanks to Slapshot and Blood For Blood for treating us like family. We all had a great time and look forward to working with them again in the future. Be sure to check back soon for updates to the Photos page for Europe shots and flyers. NOTE: It just wouldn't be right if we didn't give an extra special thanks to Josh ("the man with the plan") from Blackstone Valley Crew for helping us each and every night on stage. Not only was he a huge help during our sets, but he guest-starred on bass for our Bonecrusher cover. |
10.16.03 The Good News: We're off to Europe on the "Back On The Map" tour with our friends Slapshot and Blood For Blood. The Bad News: the 11/19 gig at Bill's Bar has been cancelled. Keep checking back for more gigs as well as great stories and pics from our tour. See you in November! |
10.9.03 Added two new interviews to the Press section. One from local favorite FNS Boston and one from our pals in Sweden Cara A Cara Underground. |
10.3.03 Added a few international reviews to the Press section. And we've got a great Boston gig lined up with Sixer and Suspect Device when we get back from Europe in November. |
09.23.03 Check out the updated Live Photos page for shots from last Friday's Stoughton show. And be sure to stop by the Gigs page to get the details for this Thursday's show at the Paradise Lounge -- featuring Tim, TJ and Anthony doing their special covers of a few Bruce Springsteen tunes... |
09.21.03 Check out the Live Photos page for shots from the 2003 Beer Olympics road trip. A special thanks to Pat Clement of FNS Publishing and Tony Ross for taking such great pics. There's more to follow so keep checking back... |
09.20.03 We appreciate everyone who came to check us out Friday night, and thanks to the other great bands who played - Street Dogs, Stray Bullets, Kings of Nuthin' and River City Rebels. A very special thank you goes to Al for putting together such an awesome lineup. Let's hope there's more all ages shows like that in the future. |
09.15.03 New CDs and T-shirts added to the Merchandise page. And for those of you in the Stoughton area this Friday night, come see our gig with the Street Dogs and Kings of Nuthin'. Check the gigs page for details. |
09.02.03 The Blue Bloods would like to thank all the cool folks and cool bands we met at the Beer Olympics this past weekend in Atlanta and Augusta. The good ol' boys at GMM Records sure know how to put on a kick ass show. We all had a great (but very humid) time and look forward to heading down that way again soon. Photos will soon be posted on our Pictures page. |
08.26.03 The new full-length album comes out in the US on September 9th! Be sure to stop by your local Newbury Comics to pick up a copy. |
08.25.03 If you don't have any Labor Day weekend plans, come join the Blue Bloods at The Beer Olympics punk festival in Atlanta, GA. This historic festival, put on by GMM Records, takes place on Friday 8/29 and Sunday 8/31 (the Blue Bloods play on Friday night). And there is a second BB gig on Saturday 8/30 in Augusta, GA. What better way to spend a long weekend than to cram you and 10 of your friends into a van and head on down South! |
08.24.03 As you can see the Blue Bloods website has been revamped. Take a look around... |
